Indoor Sculpture
Artist Floyd Newsum's suspended sculptures located in the main lobby of the Hazel Harvey Peace Center for Neighborhoods show individuals and families from the community happily engaged in healthy outdoor activities. The five sculptures depict: a Ball Player, Family Dancing, Swimmer, Bicyclists, and Jump Rope.
Each sculpture is fabricated out of 1/8” aluminum, using a 2” hollow box-construction. The sculptures range in size from 2 ½ feet by 3 ½ feet to 4 feet by 5 ½ feet, and are suspended on stainless steel rods from ceiling joists in the reception area.
For Better Life by Floyd Newsum was commissioned by Fort Worth Public Art - a program of the city of Fort Worth administered by the Arts Council of Fort Worth and Tarrant County.
