Elsa Vasquez who was born in Mexico City and raised in Los Angeles California, was exposed to Art at a very young age. Her passion for art, photography, and her mother’s influence and desire for her to pursue teaching as a profession led her to enroll in Santa Monica College with Liberal Arts as her Major. In 2003 she enrolled in her first Photography class; which reinforced her true passion. During the following three years she worked small scale photography jobs, while continuing her education and honing her skills.

At the close of 2007 she left Los Angeles and followed her husband to their new home in Denton, Texas. In 2009, after a difficult two year transition; Elsa returned to pursue her passion for photography. In the summer of 2009, Elsa answered her first Artist Open call at Oxide Gallery in Denton. Some of her work has been featured at Oxide Gallery off and on since 2009.

In 2010, she opened Pink Family Portraits, a home based photography studio designed to capture each individual’s personality. She continues to work with family and individual portraits as she builds her fine art portfolio. Elsa has also had the pleasure of working together with other small business in her new home town. It has allowed her not only to continue doing what she loves but also form stronger ties to her community. In February 2010 she was given the opportunity to donate her time and talent. She photographed the students of Brookhaven College Head Start during their “Sweetheart Dance”. She continues to learn about various photography techniques through books as well as experiments; and is diligently working to grow her home-based studio as well as her gallery work. Most of her gallery work is influenced by the love of black and white photography, and abstracts. She plans to return to school to finish her degree in Fine Arts, as well as to grow as a photographer and artist in the near future.
