Amon Carter Museum of American Art

The Amon Carter Museum of American was established through the generosity of Amon G. Carter Sr. (1879?1955) to house his collection of paintings and sculpture by Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell; to collect, preserve, and exhibit the finest examples of American art; and to serve an educational role through exhibitions, publications, and programs devoted to the study of American art.

The work is one of only two known canvases painted by the artist almost entirely in the medium of distemper and represents a key moment in her transformation into an Impressionist.

      The museum's terms state the following...have you read it? If you win first place, you earn a mere $100. If you take second place, you get a membership that costs the museum virtually nothing. On the other hand, by submitting an image, and even those who do not take first or second place, you give the museum all rights to use your photo for their commercial use on Facebook, in publications...even if they want to create merchandise with your photo on it to sell in their gift shop and website...IN PERPETUITY! "..., the submitting photographer authorizes the Amon Carter to a. use all entered photographs for any museum use (including but not limited to educational, archival, advertising, public relations, marketing and promotional purposes, and in publications of the museum including books, magazines, posters, film, Internet use, and merchandise), in any media in perpetuity and without compensation."
