For the cattle barons who made their fortunes in the dawning of the 20th century, the ultimate sign of success was a grand mansion in Fort Worth, location of the largest livestock market in the southwest. These opulent mansions were the sites of lavish parties and important business deals, as Fort Worth became the gathering place for families whose huge ranches spread across Texas. Tour the Ball-Eddleman-McFarland House and Thistle Hill mansion and stand where the Cattle Barons stood when livestock was king and ranching ruled the Southwest.
